Environmentally Friendly HDPE (High Density PE) for Pipes Developed by IRPC

The Thai producer IRPC and their European distributor ClickPlastics AG will present the newly developed Polimaxx HDPE for pipes at the K 2019.

The material is non-toxic (combustion byproducts are O2, CO2, and H2O), has good corrosion & abrasion values, and a high chemical resistance.  It has low maintenance costs, as well as a very long service life (50+ years).  This material is light, making it easy to handle during assembly and dismantling processes.  Since the material is UV-resistant, it may be stored outside and above ground.       

Different pipe sizes and various pressure classes can be produced using this material.  Even extra-long pipes with high joint tightness are possible, which prevents the contamination of the surrounding soil and water sources during the transport of sewage.  Due to the flexibility of the material, a cost-effective and trenchless installation is possible.    

The application possibilities have a broad range:

Municipal sewer systems, marine applications, mines, landfills, canals, agricultural applications, drainage systems, transport of sewage & landfill gas, and drinking water pipes under transport pressure.

Polimaxx HDPE pipes are suitable for both surface and underground applications, as well as floating and underwater marine applications.

There are different versions available for the production of HDPE pipes:  PE 80 or PE 100 Standard.

The material has been classified and tested according to ISO 4427 and EN12201.
Polimaxx HDPE produced pipes are not suitable for use in hydrocarbon (e.g., hydrogen sulfate) or petrol contaminated soils, as this can lead to contamination of the pipes.

Special Application Chlorinated Water:

Chlorinated water negatively affects the lifetime of conventional pipes. After a long and thorough testing and development period, IRPC has developed PE 100 products with chlorine-resistant properties.
In conventional HDPE pipes, oxidative degradation (especially at higher temperatures) occurs after a short time in chlorinated water, causing microcracks. 
The specially developed product P901BK_CR, with a high-resistance to chlorine oxidation, passed the tests according to ASTM F2023 (temperature 100 ° C, pressure 2.6 bar, chlorine concentration 4.3 ppm). The IRPC material achieved 6,723 hours under these conditions, in comparison to a conventional, non-chlorine resistant material, which only reached 1,809 hours.

New Product from IRPC: ClickPlastics Presents PP Crystal Clear

ClickPlastics AG is happy to introduce the new product PP Crystal Clear from their long-standing supplier IRPC.


Advantages of PP Crystal Clear

The material has excellent transparency, with a haze measurement of eight, and offers a much better impact resistance than PS (polystyrene).  The impact strength of PS is 1,5 KJ / m² but the value of PP Crystal Clear is 50 KJ / m².   IRPC´s PP has a very low density of 0,9 g / cm³ compared to PS with 1,04 g / cm³.   Due to the aforementioned properties of PP Crystal Clear, it is possible to design products with a thinner wall thickness while using less material and still achieving better mechanical strength than with PS.

Food contact types can be injection molded or injection blow molded. They are available in MFR 10, 20, and 27 g/10 min.  All are dishwasher safe.

The products for medical applications can be injection molded and are available with MFR 10 and 27 g/10 min.



Required certificates are available.

In addition to REACH, ROHS, and SVHC certificates, the FDA certificate for food contact products and a WP3.1.6 UPS Class VI certificate for medical applications are also available.

ClickPlastics AG is consistently expanding the product portfolio. New in the product range

is UHMWPE from our long-term supplier IRPC/Thailand.

Ultra-high molecular weight Polyethylene (UHMW-PE) is a linear Polyolifin powder, has an average particle size of 100-200 microns and is classified as a special engineering plastic. The material has extremely long chains with a molecular weight of 1.7 to 5.5. million g/mole. Due to the extremely high melt viscosity, the material can only be processed under clearly defined conditions – high temperature and pressure. UHMWPE is therefore processed by compression molding, with RAM extrusion and for fiber production you use the gel extrusion spinning process.

The material impresses with extremely high impact resistance – values up to ≥170 KJ are measured, according to ISO 11542-2, which is higher than any other currently available thermoplastic. Furthermore, the material scores with less abrasion than steel, high resistance to corrosive chemicals, extremely low moisture adsorption and good noise attenuation.  Fibers made out of UHMWPE are, based on the mass, 4.5 times stronger than PA or PE fibers and 13 times stronger than steel.
